A host of sailing yachts sail the final stretch of the 50th Delta Lloyd 24-hour Sail Race. After sailing overnight, over 500 boats are approaching the finish line at the West Frisian town of Medemblik on 23 August. The '24 Uurs' is a sailing race of the Nederlandsche Vereeniging van Kustzeilers in which it is possible to start in 14 towns on the IJssel- or Markermeer, from Den Oever to near Amsterdam. But it is also possible to sail on the North Sea and Wadden Sea. Whoever sails the most miles wins. The 50th edition forced participants to deal with thunderstorms, sunshine, windshifts. Here is photographic proof that the IJsselmeer also fits into the scenic landscape category.
