About ‘Oudegracht Utrecht’ by Bob Karhof

Utrecht is my hometown and I am therefore charmed by the old Utrecht city centre. The most iconic part of the city centre is of course the Oudegracht.

On a beautiful day in spring, I went on a special photo trip to reflect my vision of the Oudegracht in my multiple images concept. My aim is to make a whole image of different locations that 'rings true' in the same way that my own memory of a trip is made up of images collected in my mind.

Intuitive process
I want to reflect this in my photographic form.
My panorama is made up of seven images, one of which is of the Nieuwegracht. This is because of the process I go into during the photographic journey: I photograph an image at a certain spot in the panorama frame. The other 6 spots are then left unfilled. I let my visual sense lead me to fill in the next spot from which - by the seventh image - a composition is created that is right and reflects my experience of the whole.

Origin of my image form
I have been experimenting with multiple photography since 1993. That is: from the experience of photographing, creating multiple exposures within a photographic framework. To work out this form in the best possible way, he constructs his own camera, which makes it possible to merge images from different locations and times into a new image. These images are therefore not digitally post-processed. The panoramas are created during a 'photo journey' in which Bob gives his impressions of the landscape their own place in a new context. The composition is created by reacting to the previous image to build up the representation.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
