This old wooden door in Citta della Pieve, Umbria is set back from the hillside road and at a slight angle to the street as there is an incline. With a dark stain, the door itself is solid wood with intricate carving, and metal door furniture including two metal door knobs. The door sits inside a brick, partially plastered, architrave which matches the brickwork of the building. Above the door, set in a semi-circular wooden panel is a metal grill that allows light into the space behind the door. This is unusual for the area in that more traditionally the whole semi-circle would be ornate metal with glazing behind. I dont know if this is an older or newer version of that concept but it is very much in keeping with the style of the door.
