The onions are harvested and dried in long rows on the field. In the far background, the pre-dried onions are picked up mechanically by an onion harvester and dumped into a tipping wagon coupled to a tractor. The onions are then transported to the farmer's barn where they are further dried artificially and where the remaining foliage is removed before they are further traded. The photo was taken at the beginning of the summer season near the Dutch village of Lage Zwaluwe, municipality of Drimmelen, province of Noord-Brabant.
