I always try to put that in a painting. Find the story or create your own. I like to stimulate people's imagination.
My inspiration is life itself.
Central to my paintings is: the beauty of impermanence, imperfection.
I always start putting layer upon layer when I work. Lots of colour, details, shapes mixed together and at the end I start to create order out of chaos.
When I start painting, it can be based on an abstract image or concrete observations. By going back with my imagination into the past of something or someone and then moving away from the existing form of the subject, it is no longer reminded of its original function. While painting, my story emerging in my mind takes over. Step by step, layer by layer, I move into the unknown. Wondering where I will end up. Always my work remains unfinished, like life itself.
I use different materials. By alternating the use of materials, I always encounter new challenges, new inspiration, a new experiment.
Marinel Vieleers (1944) started as a visual artist in bronze and later in mixed materials. Her paintings have always complemented these.
