At the heart of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, the crater of Mount Bromo reveals a fascinating natural power. The steep walls, grooved by time and successive eruptions, plunge into an abyss from which dense, sulphurous smoke escapes. As you approach the rim, you can feel the vibration of the earth, the hot breath of the volcano and the pungent smell of sulphur rising from the bottom of the crater.
It's a spectacle that is both grandiose and disturbing, illustrating the geological vitality of Java, a volcanic island par excellence. The morning light reveals shades of grey, ochre and yellow, bearing witness to the minerals that make up this world in perpetual transformation.
To see the Bromo is to approach a fragment of the planet's original power. Each puff of smoke seems to tell a thousand-year-old story, that of the fire that shapes the mountains and creates the fertile land around it.
A place of rare intensity, where danger mingles with beauty, and where nature reminds us that it remains, in spite of everything, master of the world.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
