As the light descends and the sky begins to glow in warm colours, the Baltic Sea coast transforms into a landscape of tranquillity and vastness. This picture shows a classic scene from the island of Usedom: a row of groynes stretching rhythmically into the water - like bars of a quiet melody that the sea has been playing for centuries - taken during a walk along the beach from Ahlbeck to Ückeritz and back. The scene radiates a natural order, a steady movement, frozen in a quiet moment.

The groynes, made of wood, serve to protect the coast from erosion - but in this shot they almost look like sculptures in the water. Their even arrangement creates depth, perspective and a visual calm. The sea seems to breathe - gently, slowly, in waves of light and shadow.
