About the artwork
A digitally processed composition of vaulted ceilings in warm colours. The superimposition of 2 to 4 image elements creates complex structures in which various vaults and architectural details are combined. These overlays create a fascinating, almost kaleidoscopic effect in which the curves and arches of the ceilings overlap harmoniously and create new shapes. The brownish colours lend the picture a warm, antique atmosphere, as if the vaults originate from old churches, cathedrals or historical buildings. The dominant shape in the centre resembles a large eye, consisting of arched stone structures and a decorative stained glass window as a "pupil". The arches radiate outwards, creating an illusion of depth, while the warm stone tones lend the image an antique grandeur, possibly reminiscent of Gothic or Romanesque architecture. The symmetrical mirroring enhances the surreal, kaleidoscopic effect and combines classical architectural beauty with abstract art.
The different levels make the ceilings appear as if they are stacked on top of each other and continue indefinitely, giving the composition an impressive depth and dimension.
