About the artwork

Old and abandoned, what happened in the bus?

In 1912 this factory was built. In 1937, the complex was taken over by a manufacturer from Eeklo, who transformed the textile company into steam skins preparation and added a house to the head. The sheet mill remained active until 1954.

In 1958, Sogeta was taken over by one of her creditors, the Rotterdam cloth merchant and tanner Christiaan Vrijmoed, who continued the business under the same name. The Sogeta group grew into an important international player in the years 1960-70, which had several branches in Belgium and employed about 200 people at its peak. Due to the collapse of the European skins and fur sector in the 1980s, the company had to be stopped in 1988. In that year the technical installation was removed, and since then the buildings have been used as stacking rooms.

Nowadays nobody looks at the cars or the abandoned factory building. For a while there is a brother next to just the current owner, but that has also been moved!

This beautiful picture can now hang on your wall!
