About ‘Old abandoned plane’ by Eddy Smets

At an abandoned airport in France stands an old plane, its once shiny fuselage now covered by the ravages of time. The plane, once a proud messenger of progress, is now a silent witness of decay. Slowly but surely, nature has got its grip on the wreckage. Grass grows through the cracks in the concrete of the old airport and climbs up along the metal parts of the plane. Moss covers parts of the wings as the elements inexorably do their work.

The paint that once protected the plane has partly flaked off, and rust has spread like a disease across the ageing metal. The bodywork is now a canvas for graffiti, with bright colours and crooked letters forming a strange symbiosis with the decay. The contrast between the transience of the plane and the vibrancy of street art is sharp. Where once engines roared and the air was filled with the smell of paraffin, there is now a quiet, almost poetic calm.

The wreckage of the plane is a metaphor for the inevitable passage of time. As nature slowly eats the metal, it remains as a silent reminder of what once was - a tangible relic from another era, distorted by the forces of nature and the human hand.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
