About ‘October Skies at the Roosdonck Windmill’ by Amy Harper Fotografie

Walking through the trees and out into the field next to the Weverkeshof Kinderboerderij, I follow the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh in his wanderings around Nuenen and see the Roosdonck windmill come into view against a blanket of rain clouds. The miller's house in white stands in contrast to the earthen tones of the rest of the field.

All the fields and trees turn to tones of brown, rust, and gold in this late season of year, reminding me of the earth tones Vincent daubed the Aardappeleter's painting with. It is the season when darkness steals in earlier and earlier, where we gather around hearths and make feasts with lights. Autumn is my favourite, mostly because I envision reading books with a warm drink & a cat by firelight.

If you would have told me as a child that I'd become a dutch speaking photographer steeped in the village history where Vincent van Gogh spent two years of his life, I'd have thought you were crazy. Born and raised in the western United States, I've travelled a long way until landing in Nuenen determined to put down roots and raise my family.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
