Whilst a morning hike over the moorlands I came across these arcading oak trees. The framed the winding path perfectly and the early morning mist made this an even more painterly scene. I love the dull greens of the end of summer, without the neons of Spring and the bright colours of autumn. There is something very subtle and calming about the colour of the foliage just before they change in yellow, orange and red. This scene no longer exists. As is often the case with overhanging trees, these are vulnerable to storms and other unfortunate weather conditions, but I am grateful I was able to photograph this before it vanished
