New York City, I have been there several times now. The first time to give master classes, the last time to 'cart tracks': wandering among the avenues and streets. But whatever the reason, I always walk around there like a kid in a sweet shop. New York City, the city that never sleeps. Where everything, always, happens everywhere. The city of great contradictions and enormous contrasts. These images represent how I experience this city, a world in itself, over and over again. A city that is always moving, shimmering. Contrasting: rich and poor, beautiful and ugly, clean and dirty, busy and quiet, safe and dangerous, friendly and angry, helpful and hopeless in itself. The images are made up of several photos superimposed on each other, sometimes with texts and occasionally with a stave of appropriate music.
My way of working is imbued with passion. Passion for photography, passion for the people I am allowed to photograph, passion for the people I work with and to whom I give courses. I wouldn't be able or willing to do it any other way.
