Take The Hague Central Station with the modernised Babylon shopping centre. The go-ahead for the construction of Babylon shopping centre was given in 1974. In 2002, as part of the Central Station, Babylon was converted into a more contemporary shopping centre. The old Babylon was modernised and rebuilt in new style. Part of the old Babylon can still be seen between the pillars of Hotel Babylon. The old cinema has disappeared, making way for shops, restaurants and fitness. On the south side stands the 142-metre-high City Tower while the north side is adorned by the 102-metre-high Park Tower. New Babylon was completed in 2019. Meanwhile, New Babylon is among The Hague's best-known buildings, alongside the Binnenhof and the Peace Palace.
