Naumburg Cathedral is one of the most important cultural monuments of the European High Middle Ages; its architecture, stained glass and sculptures are unique in the world. The cathedral has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2018.
Naumburg Cathedral is considered an example of late Romanesque and early Gothic architecture and, with its twelve donor figures, is one of the most important buildings of the European High Middle Ages. The statue known as Uta von Naumburg is one of the most important sculptures of the German Gothic period. The colourfully painted stone figure was created in the middle of the 13th century by the so-called Naumburg Master.

Naumburg is one of the most beautiful towns in central Germany. The 1000-year-old cathedral city in the centre of Saale-Unstrut has many historical treasures to offer.

Nestled in the gentle vineyards of the Saale-Unstrut valley, Naumburg (Saale) invites you on a journey through over a thousand years of history. The centrepiece of the town is the world-famous Naumburg Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of European Gothic architecture. The impressive statues of the cathedral's founder, above all the mysterious Uta, cast a spell over visitors from all over the world.
Naumburg's special flair can be enjoyed around the historic market square with its lovingly restored town houses, cafés and small shops. Winding alleyways, town walls and towers tell of the town's rich past.
The charming countryside along the Saale and Unstrut rivers offers active recreation. Numerous wineries invite you to taste the regional wines and make your stay an enjoyable experience.
