Near Slochteren in the municipality of Central Groningen lies this fishpond also called "The Baggerputten". In the 17th century, dredged material was extracted in this very wet low moorland area of the Slochterveld. It is a beautiful natural area with woods, reeds and peat ponds. Halfway across this pond is a large jetty where anglers can fish.
