Highly recommended in Burgundy is the Abbey of Fontenay.
Fontenay Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey in the municipality of Marmagne in the Saône-et-Loire department (region: Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), The abbey is considered a good example of 12th-century Cistercian architecture, where complete seclusion was possible due to its architecture and location in a secluded and green valley. This abbey is named after the fountains that decorate its gardens. In 1981, the abbey was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. (source Wikipedia).
Not only are all the buildings beautiful to look at with their columns, stained glass and beautiful vaults, among other things. They are also beautifully situated in park-like surroundings and among beautifully landscaped gardens and ponds.

This created an exciting and mysterious image. The sunlight fell through an old window pane with cobwebs in front of it. This beautifully highlighted the plants growing both outside and inside the abbey. A nice contrast of the fresh green leaves of the plants and the old, dilapidated building.
