Natural texture in soft brown tones – still life with reflection by Marjolijn van den Berg

"Natuurlijke structuur in zachte bruintinten - stilleven met reflectie" This is a photo of a small object I found in the countryside. I think it’s a small, fledgling wasp nest that’s been abandoned. It was lying under a tree, so there’s a good chance it fell out or was blown out.
The structure of this wasp nest is beautiful; if you zoom in on the photo, you can see this. The whole thing is made up of gossamer-thin strands. As well as the structure of the material itself, the nest also has a stunning honeycomb-like structure. The hexagonal panels form the ‘ "kamers" ’ within the nest.
The colours in this photograph lend the work a calm, natural, rural atmosphere. I have, as it were, portrayed the nest as a still life, with a reflection on the ground. The reflection has a slightly abstract quality, as the ground surface has a subtle texture.
