This photo is an unusual combination of natural elements: water, ice and a leaf from a tree.
Combining natural elements is fun to do and nature is also a constant inspiration for taking photos.
When you start connecting natural elements into an artwork, you also realise that these elements are also connected in nature.
This natural artwork is a combination of two photos mixed together. A photograph of water droplets, left on objects after a rainstorm, for example.
Plants, trees and all other living things need water to survive. So also the tree from which this leaf belonged: the American Oak (Quercus rubra). In autumn, the tree recovers all the water and nutrients from its leaves to get through the winter. The brownish-orange leaves fall to the ground. For the second photo, this tree leaf is frozen in ice. This ice, of course, also consists of water.
So water is the link between the natural elements depicted here.
A natural work of art full of symbolism. Beautifully rendered in warm rural colours. A photo in which many different patterns and structures can be discovered with a nice contrast between blue and orange and light and dark.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
