This particular photo marks a significant moment - my first photographic encounter with the Milky Way. It was taken near Etting in Bavaria during a photography workshop specialising in night and astrophotography. An idyllic little church can be seen in the foreground, peacefully surrounded by fields. A narrow path leads directly to it, framed by tall grasses and trees. The sky above undoubtedly belongs to the star of the evening: our home galaxy, the Milky Way, which stretches across the horizon with impressive clarity.
The moment was magical: the sun had set, the sky was still a soft orange colour as the first stars emerged. The air was mild and the stillness of the surroundings heightened the feeling of wonder and awe. Technically, this image was a challenge, but with the support of the workshop leader, a first astrophoto was created that evoked deep emotions - and set the spark for many more night-time shots.
This motif is ideal for large-format murals in landscape format - for living rooms, practice rooms or creative workspaces, for example. It invites you to pause and combines a down-to-earth attitude with a sense of wonder at the universe.
