The series 'My 5 year old can do that' arose from a well-known phenomenon that spectators of playful, childlike, sometimes abstract art sometimes respond by saying that their 5-year-old child can do that too. Meant belittling, but without realising the value of being able to create without learned and (self-)imposed rules. The series in itself is innocent, cheerful, uninhibited. But by painting a photo-realist element into it, it can create confusion and undermine disapproving remarks towards a childlike approach.
