The Free City of Christiania (Danish: Fristaden Christiania), usually called Christiania for short, is a self-declared semi-independent enclave in the Danish capital Copenhagen. It is located in the Copenhagen district of Christianshavn on Amager and is bisected by the canal Stadsgraven. Both parts of Christiania are connected by a footbridge (Dyssebroen). The area covers 7.7 hectares and the number of residents is estimated at between 850 and 1,000. These are mostly squatters, hippies, anarchists, artists and other people who find it hard to conform to society.
Christiania is known for soft-drug trade, murals and the famous cargo bikes. This picture was taken in Summer 2023.
