A photo that almost puts you on the wrong track. Is it actually a picture or is it a graphic work? The coarse grain and the big contrast between light and shadow provide this surprising effect. We see a mountain climber who has to exert himself to the utmost. From his upper leg we can vaguely see a rope hanging down. That was his only security from falling down the mountain. Free climbing we would call it nowadays. But let's not forget about the performance of the photographer. He is there standing or hanging on the same mountain, and he follows the climbers.
