Mother with newborn baby (AI) (child, Mother's Day, parenthood, terracotta) by Natalie Bruns

This watercolour painting depicts an intimate and timeless moment between a mother and her newborn baby. The figures are deliberately abstract and constructed from flowing brushstrokes that blend into one another. The mother holds her child close to her, a posture that radiates security, trust and unconditional love. The absence of facial details creates space for recognition: this image can tell everyone's story.

The colour scheme consists of warm orange and terracotta tones, softened by beige and subtle green-grey accents. This combination gives the work a secure, warm appearance without becoming heavy. The transparent layers and visible watercolour structure create depth and softness, as if the image is slowly breathing. It evokes a feeling of tranquillity, closeness and quiet emotion.

This painting is part of a series of nine works I have designed around the theme of parenthood and connectedness. This series focuses on intimate moments in which adults hold their child together. The images show different family compositions: mothers with their child, but also heterosexual, lesbian and homosexual couples carrying their baby together. Each work shows that love, care and closeness are universal. All paintings from this series can be viewed in my personal shop environment, in the 'Ladies' folder.

The style has been deliberately kept consistent: soft, fluid and minimalist, with colour variations that give each work its own emotional charge. This painting looks beautiful in a bedroom, living room or a personal, quiet place in the home where warmth and meaning come together.

My love for people and human connection was the inspiration for creating this series with the help of AI.
