About ‘Mother-of-pearl butterfly and chequerboard’ by Erik Buitenhuis
The butterflies have lovely names: the pearl-spotted fritillary and the checkerboard butterfly. They are perched on meadow saxifrage, a flower that insects are mad about. The photo was taken on a walk near Plužine in Montenegro. We were walking through a meadow full of flowers and lots of butterflies.

I love travelling, ice skating and photography. I did a lot of the latter whilst travelling, but having taken part in a few photography projects, I now view photography differently and make different choices.
I’m an amateur but enjoy sharing my work with others, for a small fee (the vast majority of the costs are for materials and processing).
I’ve only just started here (and showing my work), so do pop back soon for more lovely photos.
