About ‘Mother of God of Vladimir’ by Sasha Butter-van Grootveld
The Mother of God of Vladimir, also known as Our Lady of Vladimir, or Vladimirskaya, is the name of one of the most important icons of (Russian) Orthodox Christianity. She is considered the patroness of Russia and her feast day falls on 3 June. Today, this icon is worshipped in a church belonging to the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
