About the artwork

Cherubs in a modern pop-art setting

Three playful cherubs float through a turquoise sky, where sunbeams break through white clouds. This illustration combines classic Renaissance elements with a contemporary pop-art style, characterised by black outlines and vibrant colours.

The cherubs, also known as putti, are depicted in their traditional form: plump, baby-like bodies with pink skin tones and golden curly hair. On the left, a cherub tenses his bow, ready to fire a love arrow. The central figure hovers with outstretched arms in an inviting gesture, while the right cherub smiles at the viewer in a relaxed pose.

The cherubs' black and white wings contrast strikingly with the airy background, making them stand out. The dynamic composition and expressive poses bring movement and interaction to the work. At the same time, the graphic style, with bold lines and bright colours, enhances the modern look of these classic figures.

With this mix of tradition and pop art, cherubs are brought back to life in a contemporary context.
