Along the banks of the Scheldt upstream of Oudenaarde lies a unique area rich in flowery hay meadows, the Langemeersen. It is one of the last remaining extensive hayfield complexes in the Scheldt valley. In the spring and summer the landscape is adorned with beautiful flowers. Reed birds curiously follow you from the reeds and meadow birds search for food or nest in the long grass. Come and experience a relic of an old vast landscape, where hay has been made for centuries. Scythes and haystoppers may have been replaced by mowers and haymakers, but the wealth of flowers is still ancient.
