The Valley of the Kikbeek Spring is a nature reserve around a former gravel quarry in Maasmechelen, where several springs supply a pond with water and where the Kikbeek originates and further on flows into the Meuse. The valley is part of the Hoge kempen National Park. The Kikbeek spring valley is part of a Natura 200 area and is therefore under European protection. When I photograph landscapes, I will usually choose to photograph during sunrise and sunset. During this time also called the golden hours, the light is at its best. The light is then beautifully soft and warm in colour and creates nice long shadows. This soft warm light creates beautiful colours and a nice soft atmosphere in the photo.
