Mirror-smooth mountain lake in autumn - Bohinjsko jezero, Slovenia

by Daan Duvillier | Atmospheric cityscape & landscape prints

Lake Bohinj reflects its mountainous surroundings in all their autumnal splendour: the smooth waters are framed by steep rock faces and mountain slopes clad in autumnal hues of golden brown and forest green. This landscape photograph from Slovenia captures the vastness of this alpine valley in Triglav National Park, where the mountains are reflected uninterrupted in the crystal-clear water. The tranquil, unspoilt nature and the perfect reflection lend this scene an almost surreal, dreamlike quality.

On the left, golden-brown autumn trees dominate the valley’s landscape, whilst on the right, steep, grey-white rock faces rise up. The mountains in the background fade into misty blue hues, lending depth and perspective to the composition. The mirror-smooth water forms a perfect central zone that unites sky, mountains and vegetation into a single harmonious image. The cloudy sky fills the eye with softness, whilst the earth and rocks add contrast.

The subdued autumn colours and the immense tranquillity of this mountain valley are ideally suited to interiors where losing oneself in beauty is key – bedrooms, meditation spaces or welcoming rooms with natural views. The perfect harmony between water, mountains and vegetation makes this a timeless, classic landscape photograph for mountain lovers.
