Lowland Mill. The Laaglandse Molen or Achterste Molen, old name: Het IJzeren veulen, is a smock mill built in 1864 to replace the burned down mill built in 1627 and is located on the Zeek 6 in Hellouw. It is the third windmill on this site. The first windmill was destroyed by crushing ice in 1572. The name 'IJzeren veulen' is based on a misunderstanding, because an iron colt is an iron pole or border post. The iron colt indicated the place where the quay could be crossed in case of a flood, causing the Asperen block lands to be flooded. This agreement was made on 31 March 1551.
