Mill Goliath on a stormy day
The sky over Eemshaven is dark grey, heavy with low-hanging clouds gathering menacingly over the vast Groningen landscape. The wind howls through the plain, whistling past dykes and barren fields. In the middle of this rugged scene, Mill Goliath towers up stately, its old wooden sails standing vigorously against the wind.
Around the mill, modern giants rise: wind turbines, sleek and gleaming white, standing like sentinels in the landscape. Their blades swing synchronously in the storm, a contrast to Goliath's robust, historic charm. The mill seems almost small among these metal behemoths, but exudes a proud determination - a symbol of the past holding out in a world of the future.
The smell of wet grass and salty sea air mingle with the wind. Birds seek shelter in low bushes, while above the horizon looms the hazy silhouette of Eemshaven - a port in motion, just like the sky above.
With my work as a street photographer, I show the rough, unpolished sides of city life. With my photographs, I try to capture the beauty of everyday moments. The viewer can then invent his or her own story to go with it. I also have a fondness for industrial environments, such as harbour sites and factory buildings, where traces of the industrial past are still present. In doing so, I try to photograph subtle details, using both digital and analogue cameras.
Dive into the world of 'Zaankanter op avontuur' and discover the frayed edges of everyday life through my lens.
Zaankanteropavontuur.
Always on adventure and looking for industrial landscapes and details. And I do a lot of street photography. Walking through the streets, old villages and city centers.
I photograph mainly with an analogue Yashica 635 and a Ricoh AF 5.
