Michael Ancher (1849 - 1927) was a Danish painter. He is sometimes associated with Impressionism. Ancher was born into a merchant family. He moved to Copenhagen in 1870, took drawing lessons and then attended art college there. He first exhibited in 1874 and undertook several trips, including to Paris and Italy.
