Belgium's bank holidays is celebrated on 21 July. It is the date on which in 1831 the first King of the Belgians, Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, took the constitutional oath as king. The oath-taking was the capstone of Leopold I's entry into Belgium. By 1880, relations with the Netherlands had normalised and it was felt unseemly to still organise triumphal commemorations of these events. The date was therefore changed by law to the third Sunday of August, and the two following days. A large Belgian flag flies in front of this house. Constant Aimé Marie Cap (Sint-Niklaas, 2 June 1842 - Antwerp, 9 October 1915) was a Belgian genre painter and etcher. He studied at the Académie Saint-Nicolas in his hometown, then at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp. After his studies, he remained in Antwerp as a freelance artist. From 1865, he participated in official salons.
