McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A Hornet of the Australian Air Force.
Registration: A21-44.
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a 2-engine multi-role supersonic jet fighter and attack aircraft for use from aircraft carriers or conventional air bases.
The F/A-18 was designed to complement the F-14 Tomcat jet fighters aboard US aircraft carriers. The Hornet can carry out air-to-air combat as well as air-to-ground combat, allowing greater flexibility in terms of deployability.
Most Hornets have been used by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines. In addition, the Hornet has also been sold to several NATO partners, Australia, Kuwait and Malaysia.
