This is a photo of the beautiful city of Matera in Italy. Photographed as the evening began and the sun was slowly setting. The street lights were just coming on, creating a special atmosphere.
Matera is one of the oldest continuous cities to be inhabited. For over 8000 years. Until about 1950, people still lived in caves in the city, until the government relocated them. Since the early 1990s, there has been a lot of investment in the city, and it has since been placed on UNESCO's World Heritage List and Matera was the Cultural Capital of the World in 2019.
