Mata Hari with some extra volume, like a fairy in a painting, watched by a pheasant.
The basis was a black-and-white photo of Mata Hari in which she had been retouched and made leaner. A fatter version seemed to me to be more beautiful, and to give her lightness I gave her dragonfly wings and tail and placed her in an older work of art of mine.
Although working as a lyrical chronicler, sometimes I see things that are not there; I photograph and edit them.
Recurring elements are: carved mannequins (humanoids) and anonymous 19th century paintings. Working from 100cm I come to sign (Nl only)...
