The International Colonial and Export Trade Exhibition (French: Exposition Universelle Coloniale et d'Exportation Générale), also known as the World Exhibition of 1883, was a colonial exhibition held in Amsterdam from May 1 to October 1, 1883. It was the first world exhibition held to showcase colonial trade and wealth.
The world exhibition took place behind the Rijksmuseum under construction on the ice club grounds (nowadays the Museumplein). The exhibition attracted at least one million visitors.
