Expressionist painting: what is it and why does it suit modern interiors?

An expressionist painting can be described as a work of art that expresses the painter's wild emotions. Thick, expressive brushstrokes and bright colours are often used to express intense feelings. This can range from joy and enthusiasm to gloom and anger. Expressionism emerged in the early 20th century and is still popular in modern art.

People often choose an expressionist painting in their modern interiors because it is an eye-catcher that brings a lot of life and energy to the room. The distinct style fits perfectly with interiors with clean lines and monochrome tones. It can serve as a contrast and still create harmony. For example, an expressionist painting can look great on a plain wall or, on the contrary, on a wall with a subtle print.

But why do people actually like hanging a modern painting in their living room, kitchen, bedroom or hall? Modern painting fits the contemporary trend that interiors should be dynamic and contemporary. By choosing a contemporary artwork, you give the interior a fashionable update, so to speak. Moreover, a painting can add a personal touch and atmosphere to your home.

Should you be looking for an abstract painting to brighten up your living room, kitchen or bedroom? Of course you can! Abstract art is a broad term, with an awful lot of variations. Maybe you want to go for something colourful, or maybe you prefer something with soft, sober tones. Maybe a big statement painting is just what your interior needs, or would you rather go for something subtler and smaller? The possibilities are endless. The most important thing is to give the painting a place in your home where it really comes into its own, so you can enjoy it every day!
