The bay of Cala Serena, which already belongs to the municipality of Felanitx, is located a little to the east of Cala d'Or. The bay is surrounded by small hotels, apartment buildings and numerous private houses. The village of Cala d'Or, not to be confused with the bay of Cala d'Or - which means "the golden bay" - stretches along the east coast of Mallorca on three headlands. The rugged rocky coast is interspersed with several bays with beautiful sandy beaches. In the centre is Cala d'Or, then to the west Cala Egos and the eastern part is Cala Ferrera. Many of the buildings in the village of Cala d'Or are painted white, with a rather flat, cubic Ibiza-style design.
Another beautiful sandy beach is Cala sa Nau, about 4 km northeast of Cala d'Or. Then about 4-5 km to the west are the beaches of S'Amarador and Ses Fonts. These beaches are located in Cala Mondrago in the Parc natural de Mondrago nature reserve.
