For centuries, man and nature have modeled the south of Mallorca, the dreamlike landscape of the Salines d ́Es Trenc. An extensive circuit of rafts to increase the concentration of salt per liter of sea water. Through a channel, the Mediterranean waters of the beach of Es Trenc, ideal for the natural production of sodium chloride, nourishes this paradise for birds, a rare example of how human activity can create valuable ecosystems worth protecting.
The Levante salt works were renovated in the 1940s and 1950s and have been using traditional techniques ever since. The raw material is still seawater, and the main energy sources are solar and wind.
