While visiting the Veluwe, we saw this large male red deer with large antlers near Ugchelen near Apeldoorn. The rutting season had just ended, the belling had ceased and some peace and quiet had returned to the tent.
Tough, guarding its harem and wary of us walkers. In the group were several females and young red deer born this year. Too bad red deer can still be hunted because I think they are beautiful.
