Malaysia Air Force's Sukhoi SU-30MKM.
Registration: M52-11.
The Sukhoi SU-30MKM is a twin-engine, extremely manoeuvrable jet fighter of the Malaysian Air Force. It is a variant of the SU-30 series, with several improvements over the original export version of the SU-30MK.
Developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau, the SU-30MKM is based on the SU-30MKI used by the Indian Air Force. Both types share the same airframe, thrust vectoring engines and a digital fly-by-wire system. However, the MKM version has different avionics on board.
In 2003, the SU-30MKM was selected by the Malaysian Air Force. With the exception of Russian MiG-29's, the Malaysian Air Force has previously used only Western-made aircraft. By 2025, its fighter arsenal will consist of the Russian Sukhoi SU-30MKM (18) and the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18D Hornet (8).
