About the artwork

The Sternbrücke has moved the minds of Magdeburg ever since the first plans were drawn up more than 100 years ago. Thus, this Elbe bridge is not only an engineering structure made of steel and concrete, but also a piece of Magdeburg's identity.

Started in May 1914, structural difficulties forced construction work to be halted after just a few months. It was not until 1918 that the work could be resumed with zeal. The well-known city architect Taut relied on the effect of the steel arch without any "frills" and created a modern structure that was unique for the time. When completed in 1922, the Sternbrücke was considered one of the most modern river crossings in Germany.

At the end of World War II, the steel arch of the bridge was blown up by the Wehrmacht, as were other Elbe crossings. Reconstruction was a long time coming. It was not until after the reunification of our country that the structural remains of the Sternbrücke were initially placed under a preservation order.

Finally, in April 1997, the city council decided to start the technical planning for the reconstruction of the Sternbrücke.
On the occasion of the 1200th anniversary, the long-awaited bridge was opened on May 01, 2005.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
