About ‘Made in Heaven’ by Ina Arends

In our twisted reality, where much that is supposedly 'different' is filtered out, visual artist Ina Arends uses her collages to search for a new visual culture that does more justice to the diversity of people. By putting precisely disability and intellectual impairment at the centre of her works, she dissects, like a surgeon, our idealised illusion of who we are. She makes the so-called 'abnormality' the norm. She focuses on the awareness of our richness that arises precisely because of our differences, instead of the illusion of our bizarre ideal image that only leads to disappointment and misunderstanding.

Her inspiration ignited through a year of intensive work with people with physical, intellectual, cognitive and auditory disabilities.

Made in Heaven shows the uniqueness of human beings in all their beauty apart from aesthetics, apart from time.

Ina Arends studied painting at the art academy and began her career as an artist in Amsterdam. After several stipends from the Fonds voor Beeldende Kunst, it was time to pack her bags in search of new adventures. A trip on a ship as a chef, then on to New York museums. After a stint in Lisbon, she shuttled between Paris and her studio in Amsterdam for a few years before taking root in Brussels for many years. Interdisciplinary work always had her interest. What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
