Lynnea means 'tender', 'sensitive' and so the portrait, in the original an oil painting, shows a young woman in her vulnerability and tenderness. The gaze is shy, reserved and at the same time inquiring and ready to engage with the other person. The painting technique underlines this impression of delicacy through many layers of glaze applied one after the other, which allow the previous background to shine through. The restrained, almost monochrome colouring also underlines this impression. As with most sensitive people, motif and technique are mirrored here: the first impression does not force itself on the viewer, he has to get involved, look and will thus be able to see more into the 'depth' layer by layer.
