The Luciana was built in the Netherlands in 1916 as a sailing herring lugger without an engine. In 1929, the ship was sold to Sweden to be used as a freighter in Scandinavian waters well into the 1970s. Since 1982, the Luciana has been used as a sailing passenger ship with auxiliary engine.
The Catherina was built in the year 1920 as a minesweeper for the German Navy. She then became a fishing vessel. Since 1985, after a huge refit, she has been used as a sailing passenger ship.
