I took my very first photo shoot on colour slide (Velvia 25) with my analogue Nikon camera in Vietnam for Living magazine in 1999.
In Hanoi, I visited a temple and came across this old Vietnamese woman who was blind. Her grandson held her hand and accompanied her to the temple. I asked her if I could take a picture and she kindly posed for it with this beautiful intense pink flower in her hand.
The Lotus flower is a sacred flower for Buddhists and represents purity, purity, beauty, inner growth and connection to the universe.
