The Loonse & Drunense Dunes is one of the National Parks of the Netherlands, located in Brabant. The area is mainly known for its large shifting sand plains. These are surrounded by forests. It is one of the largest sand areas in Western Europe.
Around 1850 the area consisted of approximately 1400 hectares of shifting sands and currently 270 hectares remain. Natuurmonumenten, the manager of the National Park, does everything to protect these hectares.
I took this picture during a walking adventure of 13 kilometers through the Loonse & Drunense Dunes and surrounding forests. The photo symbolizes the access from the woods to the sand dunes.
