The meerkat is a small predator belonging to the mongooses. It is also called "groundhog" and inhabits all parts of the Kalahari in southern Africa (Angola, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa). The meerkat mainly eats insects, spiders, scorpions and snails. Of all the mongooses, the meerkats are the most social.
